Good Excuse

Short, sendable messages for getting out of things — without spending twenty minutes writing one.

Three tones

Tell it who you're letting down and what you're getting out of. It writes the message; you send it.

Polite

Warm and graceful. Brief, no over-explaining, and never invents a specific story that invites follow-up questions.

“I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to pull out. I've overcommitted myself this week and I'm running on empty. Thanks for understanding.”

Cheeky

Funny, faintly absurd, but still something you'd actually press send on.

“Formal notice: I am bailing. My social battery is somewhere below the low-power warning. Next one's on me.”

Exit

Calm, firm and final. No apology, no excuse, and nothing that invites a reply. For when you need the conversation to stop.

“I'm going to leave it there. Please don't contact me about this again.”

How it works

  1. Pick who it's for — friend, colleague, boss, family, a date, or someone who won't take no for an answer.
  2. Pick what you're getting out of — tonight's plans, a party, a meeting, a call, a date, an ongoing conversation.
  3. Add a line of context if it helps. “Third cancel in a row” nudges the wording firmer. It never appears in the message.
  4. Choose a tone and generate. Copy it, share it, or generate another.

Messages are built to sound like a person wrote them: always under 80 words, never the same one twice in a row, and always matched to who's receiving it — the line that works on a friend is never sent to your boss.
