Using the app
How do I generate a message?
Pick who it's for and what you're getting out of, choose a tone, and tap Generate. The context field is optional — it nudges the wording rather than appearing in the message.
Why does the same context change the tone?
If your note reads like repeated pressure — “third cancel in a row”, “he keeps asking” — the app picks firmer wording, even in Polite. Choosing “Someone persistent” does the same thing, more strongly.
How many free excuses do I get?
Three a day. The count resets at midnight, your local time, and regenerating counts as one — a new message is a new message.
I hit the limit by regenerating. Is that a bug?
No, that's how it's meant to work, though it catches people out. Each regeneration produces a fresh message and uses one of the three. Pro removes the limit entirely.
What do I get with Pro?
Unlimited excuses, every future template pack, and no subscription — £2.99 once, and that's the end of it.
How do I restore a purchase?
Settings → Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. If it still doesn't unlock, check you're signed into that account in iOS Settings, then try again.
I paid twice — can I get a refund?
Pro is a one-off purchase and Apple will refuse a second charge for it, so a genuine double charge is worth querying with Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.
Does the app send my messages anywhere?
No. It has no backend and makes no network requests of its own — it works with no signal at all. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my history?
Swipe left on any entry in History to delete it. To remove everything at once, delete the app — the history, the daily count and anything you typed go with it.
Why is Exit so blunt?
That's the point of it. Exit messages are written to end a conversation rather than continue one, so they carry no apology, no excuse and no question — nothing that hands the other person a way back in. If you want a softer let-down, use Polite.
Will the messages ever repeat?
Not straight away. The app remembers the last ten it produced and writes around them, so back-to-back generations are always different.
